We are going to start our training on Sunday May 4th at the main Takatof building on Muroor from 1700-2100.

Volunteering Project

What is it?

• TIME: 13-15 hours week for 5 weeks on site at an organization you have found that requires volunteers.

Graded as follows

·         Personal Reflection On The Project Plan       10%

·         Weekly Journal                                                    20%

·         Final Reflection On Project                               30%

·         Group Based Project Presentations                20%

·         total                                                                       80%

 

Groups:

·         MAXIMUM 5 people—NO EXCEPTIONS

·         MINIMUM 2 people

 

Organization:

• BE sure that your presence there is helping the organization, and/or the people they help.

• Red Crescent
• Takatof
• Local hospitals
• Your old school
• Check with your Mosque
• HCT

• Football stadiums—Jazeera—they sometimes do community outreach programs
• Animal organizations—if you have a love for animals—you can check with
• Feline Friends,
• Falcon Hospital,
•  Strays Abu Dhabi

 

 

 

DEADLINE FOR LETTING ME KNOW:

·         Thursday, March 20th.

·         You will e-mail your completed project form to me by Sunday, March 23rd.

 

TIMELINE OF PROJECT

April 15^th—WEEK 7—In-class prep for project

• Start weekly journal
• Decide as team which media you’ll use to cover project—photos? Videos? etc
• Reflection 1—What you think the experience will be like/ what you hope it will be like.

 

April 22^nd – WEEK 8—In-class update project

Continue weekly journal

• Final check in with organization to be ready for following week
• Make sure teacher has ALL contact numbers:

·         for group

·         for contact person at organization

·         proper address for organization

·         detailed map to find it

 

April 27^th —May 27^th —WEEK 9-13—ON LOCATION--5 weeks volunteering

• Maintaining weekly journal entry  
• Posting pictures/videos of yourself and team in action
• Be ready for 2 visits—one you will know about/one will be a surprise drop in

Maslow's Pyramid
